This is one of the easiest breakfasts you can make from the campsite and it’s naturally healthy as well. The ingredients are simple. You’ll need oatmeal (not the quick cooking type), some yogurt, a variety of fruit, nuts, berries, salt, seasonings such as cinnamon or vanilla extract, and milk or nut milk of your choice.
They are typically made in small glass canning jars but it isn’t necessary. They just look prettier that way. You’ll be layering the ingredients, giving it all a shake, and letting it sit in the refrigerator overnight. It’s ready to eat when you are the next morning.
Five Tasty Versions of Overnight Oatmeal:
Drop 1/2 cup of oats and a dash of salt into the jar, then goes 1/2 cup of your favorite flavor of yogurt, next comes the fruit, followed by the milk. Cover and shake it all up. Now pop it in the fridge and get some sleep. It will be ready when you wake up in the morning.
Banana Bread – Use sliced bananas, cinnamon, and crushed walnuts.
Piña Colada – Use diced pineapple, some vanilla extract, coconut flavored yogurt, and coconut milkd.
Raspberries n’ Cream – Use fresh raspberries and add some raspberry jam if you’d like, raspberry yogurt, and coconut milk.
Apple cinnamon – Use diced apples, some raisins, cinnamon, and apple pie spice.
Each variety listed here will taste fresh the next day and it’s a sure crowd pleaser. It’s also nice for families who don’t all wake up at the same time.
