If you’re like most campers you will spend your days in the fresh air, swimming, riding bikes, walking through all around the area, and playing tag with the kids. That means you are going to be one tired camper by the end of the day and you’ll be ready for a good night’s sleep.
Choose a mattress that will make this possible. Camping mattresses can be very unlike your bed at home. Whether you are sleeping on the floor or on a top bunk, there is a solution for making your bed the best it can be.
There are a variety of foam mats that will make your bed softer, firmer, warmer, or cooler. You can choose between densities and thickness. It may seem an inconvenience to pack along with the rest of your gear but your sleep cycles will thank you for it.
If you’re in a sleeping bag, you can bring an extra mat for the floor underneath you. You’ll be surprised how much cushion it can provide and is much easier on your joints.
For regular beds, you might also prefer to bring a pillow top addition for your bed. These can cost in the neighborhood of $75-$100 but will make your bed feel almost as good as the one you sleep on at home.
Whatever you choose, make sure it is completely dry before you put it away after your camping trip to avoid mildew. Once dry, pack it away in a pest proof container and you are good for another year.
We want your camping adventures to be good ones and we want you to feel cozy when you’re all tucked in at night. Picking a good mattress or mattress pad will be half the battle.
