There are many uses for each of these tools while you are camping. A steady hand with a quality axe can allow you to strip some kindling from large chunks of wood to get that fire started.
You can use the blunt side of your hatchet for pounding in tent stakes. Not that we recommend it, but it isn’t always easy to think of every tool you may need for every circumstance while you are here.
Most campers carry at least a pocket knife with them. You may find yourself the superhero if you can cut a child’s lost balloon out of the tree branches, and you know you’ll be asked to sharpen those marshmallow sticks for the S’Mores that are planned around the campfire each night.
We see all of these tools used regularly at the campsite and each seems to offer substantial value on its own. If you happen to carry all three you should be pretty well prepared. Now you can even buy a multi-tool shovel with eleven different functions. It has a saw blade, nail puller, bottle opener, and a number of other marvels to keep you well prepared for anything.
We’d love to hear what camping tool you won’t leave home without.
