If you’re planning on bringing your pets along on your camping trip you should prepare to have a few necessities on hand. Having a dog with you requires a little bit of work and some training. There are always others camping around the campsites, too, so you have to make sure you’re keeping your pets under control!
A pet is going to have to use the bathroom outside and so you have to make sure you bring along bags to clean up after them with. They make small bags that you can use, or you can improvise by bringing some plastic shopping bags. Then, all you have to do is find out where you’re allowed to throw your waste. You probably will want to get a little away from where others are camping no matter what the dog needs to do because people probably won’t appreciate you letting it go to the bathroom right next to them!
Always bring along enough pet food. If you don’t have enough after a certain point, you either have to go out or ask around which can be a bit of a pain. Also, store any food in a waterproof container and keep it put away. Dogs are great at getting into what they shouldn’t. They are also good at getting out if they are not properly leashed or looked after. It’s wise to always use a leash when bringing your dog outside and you need to have the dog wear a collar that tells people who owns it in case of an escape.
Camping with pets is possible to do while having fun. It’s best to come prepared instead of learning the ropes as you go along. Give it a try and it may surprise you just how much fun it is to camp with your pets!
