There are lots of the good-old-games from the past that are just as much fun to play with your kids these days. There will be times during your stay when the kids are wrinkled as prunes from swimming and you want to just spend some time at the campsite. Here are a few ideas for games to play with the gang.
Do you remember that one? It’s a regular game of tag except the kids that get tagged have to freeze in place and the person who is “It” continues to tag more people. It’s fun to watch the restless ones try to stay in a frozen position for any length of time.
This one will make you laugh all the way through. Get a towel wet and have four people carry a fifth person from one end of the campsite to the other with that wet towel. The giggling will make if hard for everyone to hold their team member up. Kids love it.
Tried and True Card Games
They teach kids about patience, strategy and even some math. Bring a cribbage board along or challenge someone to a game of double solitaire. Card games go great with a bowl of popcorn and there are levels for everyone from the little ones to the teens.
You can have a lot of fun just getting the kids to search for things around the tent, cabin, or RV. They love the competition and get a kick out of scrambling up, down, over, and under to find things on their list. You can find some ready-made printables at Hands On As We Grow to make your planning a little easier. If you come prepared with a couple of Treasure Hunts ready to go you will be well armed when kids get restless.
