The family pet loves camping just as much as you do. It’s an exciting place to be for them. So many new sights, sounds, and smells to explore. We want you and your pet to have a great stay so there are a few things you can do to make sure the trip is a success.
While some vacations don’t lend themselves to packing the pet, camping trips are an ideal way to include Rover in your plans! Of course, deciding to bring your pet with you does bring up a few additional preparation needs to make sure you have a fun and worry-free camping experience, rather than a pet nightmare! To help you pack for your pet we have prepared a quick checklist of the items you really shouldn’t forget about when deciding to take the ‘whole’ family away for a camping vacation.
Camping With Pets – The Checklist!
Your pet (it’s an obvious one we know, but with all the chaos of getting the kids and equipment packed, your four legged friend can easily be forgotten!)
ID tags including your phone number
Collar, harness and lead (bring spares if you have them)
A cable leash (most campsites require pets to be on a leash, by bringing a 20 foot cable leash your pet can meet the camping rules while still having the freedom to explore)
Poop scoop and bags
A stake to attach the dog’s leash to
Food, bowls and plenty of toys
A reflective collar or coat for evenings
A pet first aid kit
Indeed, there are may things to remember when you decide to include your pet in your camping plans. Granted, it may take a little more time and effort, but the joys of having your pet by your side during your vacation time will certainly outweigh everything else!
